Windows 8 Tablet Deals – Microsoft Surface Pro, Other Windows 8 Slates on Sale at Best Buy
With Satya Nadella set to take over from Steve Ballmer as Microsoft’s Chief Executive, many believe the incoming CEO should focus on getting consumers interested in Windows 8, a polarizing operating platform to say the very least. Though, Microsoft still has the lion’s share of the OS market for desktops and laptops, Windows 8 adoption hasn’t been as fast as it was for Windows 7, and experts believe it would behoove Nadella to sell consumers on Windows 8’s benefits lest the platform go the way of the much-maligned Vista.
Regardless of what one thinks of Windows 8, there are still numerous devices powered by the OS, including several tablet computers. Here are some of Best Buy’s current Windows 8 tablet offerings, all of which are selling at discounted prices.
The Microsoft Surface Pro was released late in 2012 as the company’s professional-grade tablet, with attractive specs such as a fast processor, Windows 8 Professional out of the box, and a high-resolution 10.6-inch Clear View HD touchscreen. While the Surface line hasn’t set the world on fire, the 128 GB Surface Pro is still a solid productivity device to own. It’s now available for $679.99 on Best Buy, a $220 discount off the full retail price of $679.99. As the Surface Pro runs on Windows 8 Professional, it supports legacy Windows (Windows 7) apps, something the ARM-based Surface RT doesn’t.
Best Buy has a good number of Acer Iconia tablets available for less, such as the Iconia W5 Series, which comes with a 10.1-inch display, Wi-Fi support, and 32 GB internal storage. The storage space may not sound like a lot of onboard flash storage for a productivity tablet, but the device will actually cost you less than it would for an iPad Air with the same amount storage. Pricing is at $408.98, a discount of $91.01 off the regular price of $499.99.
On the higher end of the scale is the Iconia W700-6680, which sports 128 GB storage under the hood, plus a third-generation Intel Core i5 dual-core processor. This tablet also features an 11.6-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. Best Buy is selling it for $810.98, or $184.01 less than the full retail price of $994.99.
The very similar Iconia W700P-6821 is another premium option, costing $967.98, which is already a $109.01 discount off the normal price of $1,076.99.
The HP ElitePad comes with a 10.1-inch display, 64 GB internal storage, Wi-Fi connectivity, and Windows 8 Professional out of the box as key specifications, and is normally one of the more premium Windows 8 tablets available on the market. Pricing is now at $738.98, however, which isn’t that far removed from the regular price of $749.99.
Buyers will, however, get a bigger discount if they choose the HP ElitePad 900, which comes with a 10.1-inch display, 64 GB internal memory, Windows 8 Pro and Wi-Fi support as core specifications. Pricing is now at $607.98, a generous $92.01 discount off the regular price of $699.99.Tweet
